Trivia Question❓

What year was the Golden Triangle Quilt Guild founded?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Real talk: You've probably been ignoring the primary election notifications.

We get it. Election info reads like tax forms written by robots. But here's the thing: primary elections matter MORE than general elections because they determine who even makes it to the November ballot.

And this one's next week.

Early Voting = The Smart Move

Why fight crowds on March 3 when you can vote literally any day from February 17-27?

Jefferson County early voting spots:

  • Jefferson County Courthouse - 1085 Pearl St., Beaumont
  • Rogers Park Community Center - 6540 Gladys Ave., Beaumont

Hours vary by location, so google "[location name] early voting hours" before you go. Or just show up between 8am-5pm on a weekday and you're probably fine.

Election Day (March 3): Where Can You Vote?

If you live in Jefferson, Orange, Chambers, or Liberty County: Vote at ANY polling location in your county. Seriously. Any of them.

What ID Do You Need?

  • Texas Driver License
  • Texas ID card
  • U.S. Passport
  • Military ID
  • Election ID certificate

Don't have one? You can still vote. Show up, sign a declaration, and bring supporting docs (utility bill, bank statement, government check). They WILL let you vote.

Why Bother With a Primary?

Because this is where you decide who your actual choices are in November. Low primary turnout means the most extreme candidates on both sides tend to win, because only the most fired-up voters show up.

Tip of The Day

Voting Hack: Download a sample ballot from the Jefferson County Elections website BEFORE early voting. Mark your choices at home, then bring your notes with you. You'll be in and out in 5 minutes instead of standing there trying to remember who's running for what.

Some places just stand out for their genuine care and fresh flavors, and Katharine & Company is one of Beaumont’s true gems.

Founded by Katharine Carmichael in 1997, the restaurant began as a tiny take-out shop before blossoming into a bustling local favorite in the historic Mildred Building.

Chef Will Carter crafts daily specials featuring organic greens, house-baked breads, and scratch-made desserts.

The menu always highlights seasonal, healthy options and a freshness you can taste.

Guests love the welcoming staff, cozy ambiance, and monthly events like First Thursday dinners with live music and a local artist market, plus Second Sunday brunches.

Katharine’s personal touch is felt at every level, whether it’s weekday lunch, grab-and-go at K2 Cafe, or full-scale catering.

For those looking to support local and eat well, it’s a can’t-miss Beaumont experience.

Quote Of The Day

"Keep your face always towards the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you." - Walt Whitman

The Golden Triangle Quilt Guild brings its vibrant "Sewing Peace with Quilts" show to the Beaumont Civic Center this Friday and Saturday, welcoming visitors from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a $10 admission.

Far from a simple pastime, quilting here is an art form and local tradition that captures Southeast Texas stories in every stitch.

Founded in 1983, the guild showcases decades of creativity, featuring handmade quilts ranging from patriotic displays to future family heirlooms.

Attendees will not only glimpse works that took hundreds of hours to create, but also explore a marketplace filled with unique crafts by local makers.

Even if you’ve never quilted, watching these artists in action is an experience worth every penny—and a great way to support local talent.

Falling in Love with a Series

One of the saddest parts of reading is reaching the end of a great story. You get hooked, fall in love with the characters and the world, and then suddenly… it’s over. You’re left wishing it could go on just a little longer.

That’s why book series are the best. The story keeps unfolding, the characters develop and grow, and the joy of reading continues. Below are some of my favorite book series that will grab your attention and make you fall in love with both the characters and the storyline:

Shelby Nichols Adventure by Colleen Helme

Mind-reading & mystery fun!

Never a dull moment when the main character can read minds.

The Sinclairs by J. S. Scott

Steamy romance galore!

A great pick for romance lovers—very spicy.

The First Wives by Catherine Bybee

Independent women, heartfelt love.

Strong, independent women and their love stories.

Carly Moore Mystery by Denise Grover Swank

Secrets & suspense!

Features a woman trying to hide her true identity—great mystery series.

Knockemout by Lucy Score

Small-town swoon!

Small-town romance. Book three is my favorite—Lucian (a.k.a. “Suit Daddy”) stole my heart.
