Happy New Year Stepping into the New Year with Intention
The Menopause Moment
Saying Goodbye to a longtime gathering spot Monterrey House closes after 62 years |
A Year That Shaped Us. The Next One? We Shape It. |
Looking back with gratitude, stepping forward with intention |
As Beaumont prepares to close out the year, there’s a quiet, meaningful rhythm settling over the city. It’s in the familiar spaces that have anchored our weeks, the community traditions that carried us through the calendar, and the steady presence of places that felt like home when life moved quickly. This year has reminded us that momentum doesn’t always look loud or spectacular. Sometimes progress shows up in smaller ways—clearer communication, well-run events, dependable gathering places, and shared moments that didn’t need to be extraordinary to matter.
Across Beaumont, residents showed up for the things that felt grounding: the experiences that offered connection, the programs that respected our time, and the institutions that continued to show up for the community. Whether it was time spent downtown, at seasonal celebrations, cultural performances, neighborhood gatherings, or simple routines that shaped our days, this year formed a collection of moments that quietly added up to something meaningful.
As the calendar turns, the invitation isn’t to reinvent everything. It’s to step into the new year with intention. To choose what to carry forward and what to release. To keep showing up for the places and people that steady us. To make room for rest, curiosity, and participation. To continue building a city that feels thoughtful, welcoming, and connected.
The coming year will bring its own pace, its own rhythm, and its own stories. If this past year has taught anything, it’s that Beaumont moves best when it moves with purpose. So as New Year’s Eve arrives, here’s to reflection without regret, hope without pressure, and a new year shaped by clarity, care, and community.
Happy New Year, Beaumont. The next chapter is already beginning. |

Founded by Bob and Pris LeJeune as a humble, four-table take-out stand in 1963, the restaurant grew into a cherished gathering spot for generations of Southeast Texans.
The LeJeune family shared their heartfelt appreciation for loyal patrons and staff, noting the lasting memories and friendships formed inside Monterey House’s walls.
