Tonight in Beaumont, You Can Eat Well and Do Good at the Same Time.

The Tasting for Some Other Place is one of the best evenings Beaumont puts together all year. It is also the only fundraiser for an organization that feeds 200 people every single day.

In 1968, people in Beaumont who needed help kept hearing the same answer from the agencies they turned to. Not here. Try somewhere else. Go to some other place.

So someone built it.

Some Other Place has been serving Beaumont's most vulnerable residents for nearly six decades. Their soup kitchen feeds around 200 people a day. Their programs provide emergency assistance, case management, and a path toward stability for people who have nowhere else to turn. They operate on community support and faith. And once a year, they ask the community to show up for them.

Tonight is that night.

The 24th Annual Tasting for Some Other Place runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center, 701 Main Street. More than 40 local organizations, churches, and businesses set up tables and serve food. Brisket. Street tacos. Jambalaya. Gumbo. Sweets. All of it included with your $15 ticket. Children 6 and under get in free. Live music from local favorite Midlife Crisis runs all evening.

This is their only fundraiser of the year. Executive Director Christopher Robertson appeared on local television this week to make the ask directly: the community that Some Other Place has served for 58 years is the same community that keeps it going. Tonight is how that works in practice.

Get your tickets at thetastingforsomeotherplace.com or call 409-832-7976. And if you find yourself at the Beaumont Civic Center tonight with good food in hand and good music in your ears, you will know exactly where your $15 went.
