Monterey House Restaurant in Beaumont to Close After 62 Years |
Beloved Tex-Mex establishment bids farewell to the community |
After more than six decades of serving authentic Tex-Mex cuisine, Monterrey House in Beaumont will close its doors on December 31, 2025.
Established in 1963 by Bob and Pris LeJeune, the restaurant began as a modest take-out stand with just four tables.
Over the years, it expanded to become a cherished dining spot for generations of Southeast Texans.
In a heartfelt announcement, the LeJeune family expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating, "We are thankful for the friendships we have made along the way with our customers and staff, and hope each of these people will hold fond memories of their time at the Monterey House, as we will hold close the memories of our time with them."
They added, "The doors may be closing, but the memories made will always stay open."
As Monterrey House prepares to close, Beaumont's dining scene continues to evolve.
New establishments like Hearsay Gastro Lounge, which opened in May 2025 in the historic downtown area, and Henry's Seafood and Wings on Phelan Boulevard, are contributing to the city's vibrant culinary landscape.
While the closure of Monterrey House marks the end of an era, the spirit of innovation and community in Beaumont's restaurant scene remains strong.
Residents can look forward to exploring new flavors and experiences as the city continues to grow and diversify its dining options. |
