Beaumont is making room for a new hometown tradition this Saturday: its first official Veterans Day parade.
The celebration begins November 7 at 10 a.m. at Rogers Park, giving neighbors a chance to recognize the people who have served in uniform.
Organized by the Mayor’s Veterans Coalition, the event is designed to welcome veterans with different mobility needs, including those who use wheelchairs.
That accessibility matters because a community tribute should make space for everyone it is meant to honor.
The procession starts near the Rogers Park Community Center parking lot, travels toward Gladys Avenue, continues along Dowlen Road and loops through the library property before returning to the park.
Residents can watch from along the route rather than needing to follow the entire procession.
Organizers expect a mix of community participants, including walkers, floats, school bands and ROTC students.
The coalition also works to connect local veterans and their families with organizations and resources beyond a single celebration.
This is more than another date on the community calendar; it is a chance for Beaumont to build an annual tradition around service and belonging.
Veterans and organizations seeking participation information can call 409-833-9593.
If your Saturday morning is open, consider spending part of it cheering for neighbors whose stories deserve to be seen. |
