Applications Open for School Voucher Program Offering Up to $10,474 for Private Education |
Starting at 9 a.m. on February 4, parents in Beaumont can apply for the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program, which provides up to $10,474 in public funds per student for private school tuition and other educational expenses.
Special needs students may be eligible for up to $30,000 annually, depending on their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
The application window runs through March 17, ensuring all applicants are considered equally, regardless of submission date within this period.
To apply, parents must provide:
- A valid ID
- Proof of citizenship
- Recent tax returns
- An IEP for children with special needs
Currently, over 1,600 private schools across Texas have joined the TEFA program, with more expected to participate as the initiative progresses.
Parents are encouraged to contact their preferred private schools to confirm participation and discuss potential enrollment.
Additionally, TEFA funds can be allocated for approved educational services such as tutoring.
